Walking in Rouen a few weeks ago, I came upon this atelier and didn't notice until later what these photos meant for me. The artist's smock in the chair of the studio waiting for the artist to return to her work, the work put down and aside for another time, the dark space between the chair and the table representing the space of time until the artist could sit back down at her table and start her work again.
